Robert McGonigle, DDS
Forging a tradition of excellence in dentistry and service, Dr. Robert McGonigle exemplifies the very best in family dentistry.
A part of a long-standing tradition of dental comfort and care, Dr. McGonigle graduated as co-valedictorian from Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1987 and went on to complete a hospital-based general practice residency at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. His commitment to continuing education remains evident today, as he and his team stay at the forefront of advancements in dentistry, mastering the latest treatments and procedures.
At Dental Image, the philosophy of care extends beyond the chair. Each year, Dr. McGonigle joins an international team of dentists in South Africa to provide care for children of the indigenous Zulu population. Locally, his practice participates in Dentistry from the Heart and Stars, Stripes, and Smiles, offering free dental services to underserved communities and veterans.
Dr. McGonigle and his team are dedicated to creating a welcoming environment built on trust, compassion, and open communication. Patients know they can rely on his team for advanced, personalized care from knowledgeable and friendly professionals.
He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Illinois State Dental Society.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. McGonigle has been married to his high school sweetheart for more than 30 years. He enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, and cherishing moments with his family–especially his grandchildren, Danny, Jimmy, Olivia, Hayes, Brydie, and Michael.
Austin Carmody, DMD
Dr. Austin Carmody earned his dental degree from the University of Illinois Chicago in 2025 after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he majored in molecular and cellular biology. With a strong foundation in science and a commitment to detail, Dr. Carmody brings a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to every visit, balancing precision with clear, down-to-earth communication. He began providing clinical care throughout the Chicagoland area in 2023 while training at UIC, and he’s proud to continue serving the local community in private practice.
Dr. Carmody’s goal is simple: to change the way people feel about going to the dentist. He believes patients should feel like true partners in their care, and he focuses on prevention, comfort, and modern techniques to help protect natural teeth for life, while making “dental anxiety” a thing of the past. Known for his patient-first mindset, he was honored with the Dr. Gerald L. Wine Scholarship at UIC for excellence in patient relationships and communication, and he continues to take continuing education courses throughout the year to stay current. Outside the office, as the oldest of six, he’s used to a lively household, and he brings that same warmth and energy to patient care, whether he’s at the gym, playing pickup basketball or lacrosse, or relaxing with a good book and a game on TV.
